FAQs

Where are you based, and what area do you cover?

I am based in Witchampton, Wimborne, Dorset, and cover all the surrounding towns and villages – feel free to reach out if you’re unsure if your area is covered, I’d be happy to advise and refer you to another appropriate trainer if I don’t cover your area.

What training methods do you use?

I am proud to use evidence-based, reward-based training, and will never use or recommend force, fear, intimidation or any form of aversive methods when working with you and your dog. I do not use electric collars. If there is anything suggested you don’t feel comfortable with, we don’t do it – there’s always an alternative.

What are your qualifications?

I am proud to be a certified and approved trainer with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT). I hold a current canine first aid certification and keep up to date with the most recent developments in canine behaviour and training. I am fully insured through Pet Business Insurance.

How do I book?

You can schedule a free 20 minute consultation call with me directly through the website – just click on the ‘book now’ link and it will take you to my calendar where you can find a time that suits you. Once we’ve had a good discussion about your dog, we can arrange your first training session!

How much do you charge?

Every dog is an individual and every person has differing goals, therefore requires a different approach to training. We discuss your dog’s needs and your goals during our free 20 minute consultation call and will talk through the options that make sense for your individual situation.

Is it too late to train my dog?

It really is never too late! Dogs can learn at any age, and sometimes older dogs can pick things up faster than puppies! If there’s a specific behaviour you’re wanting to work on, you can book a free 20 minute consultation call and we’ll talk through what’s realistic for your dog.

What if my dog has already ‘failed’ training elsewhere?

This happens more than you’d think, and it’s not your fault, it usually means the approach wasn’t the right fit. I won’t leave you to get on with it and assume all is going swimmingly; we’ll catch up regularly between sessions and you’ll have unlimited support over WhatsApp, so if something’s not working, we can adjust before it becomes a bigger problem.

I’m not one for sticking a plaster over the one issue you come to me with – we’ll look at your dog as a whole and get to the root of what’s actually going on, which sometimes means tweaking other areas too, always with your goals in mind. It’s consistent support the whole way through, not a one-and-done session where you’re left to figure out the rest yourself.
